Laundry Room Update

I have a small update to share today. I changed out the door knobs on the cabinets above the washer. I wanted some to match the rest of the space, like the cute mint green baskets on the shelves above the dryer. This is a simple change that can help pull a space together.

The knobs are from Hobby Lobby. I always wait for things to go on sale. These were 50% off, so really cheap!

Laundry Space Organizing

I would love to have the most organized and clean house, but that is not reality. However, I am trying to get more organized and pare things down. 

Today I am going to show you how a few cheap storage containers from the dollar store can help a space feel more organized and less cluttered. It's not perfect, but it's a good start for me.

Here are the before and after photos.

I bought the clear containers with gray tops and the little glass containers with white tops at the dollar store. I have a few more I haven't used yet. They were perfect for this room! The gray tops matched the gray bins from Target perfectly. Now if I could just figure out how to hide the toilet paper and paper towels I'd be good to go!

Organizing Goodies

Aren't these wonderful? I found them in the dollar bins at Target. Now I just have to figure out where to put the baskets and what to put in the file folders. Decisions, decisions!

Book Wall

Last week I went to Grand Rapids, MI to help build a book wall in the lobby of a publishing companies new building. I have some photos to show you. We didn't have enough to build the wall to the very top, but it's still awesome. We'll either put a thick piece of glass on top and have it be a shelf or someone will finish it later.

The building was still being worked on, so I don't have a good "after" photo yet. But this is the full wall in the space.

It was really fun planning out the wall on the fly. We didn't get a chance to plan ahead.

Holiday Splendor Booth

The weekend before Thanksgiving I had a booth at my first fair/show. It was a great learning experience, but not many sales. They did a ton of advertising for this, but people just did not show up. I think part of the problem was that there was another craft fair at a high school close by and tons of people went to that. Next year I'll try to get into that one. It would be more of my scene anyway. This one, Holiday Splendor, was a mix of a little handmade, to even Advocare and dance lessons (see the posters behind my booth).

I want to thank everyone who came out and supported me! I could not have afforded this if you hadn't shown up. I only sold things to my friends, which is very unfortunate. Trying to get your name out there is really hard, but I'm going to keep on doing it. 

Anyway, here are some close up photos of my booth. I have ideas of more ways to display everything, so this was a great trial for me.

One of my friends from high school had a booth right behind me. We got some cute photos taken on the giant rocking chair. I'm so glad she was there. I would have been so bored sitting there by myself all day.

Beads, Beads and more Beads!

I'm working on some new bracelets. I had all these wood beads that I didn't know what to do with. Now I've made some bracelets and bought more beads to make more bracelets!

My Studio

For those who don't know me, I live in a 1 bedroom condo. I don't have much space, so I turned my dining room into my studio. I never ate at the table and it just piled up with junk. I had an old, awesome drafting table at my parents house that I was going to sell, but sold my table instead. These are a few photos of my new studio, storage and earring display. The owl earring display is actually above the shelves now. The Giving Thanks poster was done by an old co-worker and it's actually above my computer, not in the studio.

I need opinions. Do you like this design in the necklace or earrings? The earrings are really long. I don't like to wear super long earrings with necklaces, so I would like to just sell one or the other of these.

I Bit the Bullet

and cancelled cable. I still have internet, but I decided I didn't like dealing with my cable company and they kept messing up my service, even sent me a cable box that didn't work! So I have my antenna hooked up and I barely get NBC, but CBS comes in really good most of the time. And I can't forget about QVC. I mean, what good is an antenna if you can't get QVC??? I think I'm going to be happy with this decision. I'll just watch things I want to watch and not just find something on because I'm bored.

Now maybe I will finish these!

Over the Weekend and FUN

Yesterday I went to a design conference that AIGA put on. It's called Think Tank. They have it every year and have professionals come speak to the design community. I learned some and just had a good time. 2 of my co-workers went and it was nice to hang out with them outside of work. I hope to do more of that kind of stuff in the coming years.

The next day I got up early and ran 5 miles with a friend. It was pretty cold, but when we got in the sun it was too warm. We finished and felt great! Later that evening I got ready to go to the FUN concert. It was a lot of "fun"!!! They were really good live and so was their opener, Tegan & Sara. This is what I wore (from the chest up) to the show. I have on the Amber and Blue Long Earrings.

By the way, it was in the 50's that night! I wore boots and had a hoodie, but I was still freezing. I have to get used to this cold weather. Although it's hard when it's in the freakin' 80s during the day and 50s at night.

Blue Skull Earrings

Here is a photo of me wearing the super cute blue skull earrings. I totally cannot take a good selfie. I have problems finding my "good" side, smiling correctly and looking at the right place at the right angle. It's really a science I think!

Anyway, these are really cute and look great on. You should all go get a pair! I have other colors, too. Green, purple, yellow, orange and pink. I have white ones that are also for sale in the shop.

I haven't totally decided what I'm going to do on this blog. 

1. I'd like to show more photos of customers and myself wearing the jewelry I make. 
2. I'd like to show DIY projects if I ever do any. I'll also try to show my inspiration for pieces. Sometimes that comes from a shirt or shoes that I want something new to wear with. 
3. I have started running, lifting weights and eating healthy, so I would like to give updates about that.
4. I might show some how-to's so you can make your own pieces or fix broken ones. Thoughts on that?
5. I am a graphic designer as well as a jewelry designer so I would like to sometimes show things I am working on in my other design world.

Anything else you all would like me to talk about? I think this will just take some time to evolve. First thing I need to do is just start posting consistently.
